District Fire Chief Gerald W. Nadeau Memorial Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation established to restore a 1986 Pierce Dash fire apparatus with the intent to use it as a memorial for fallen firefighters in a funeral procession.
Members of the Local Assistant State Team (L.A.S.T.), a group organized for Massachusetts under the direction of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, who assist fire chiefs (who request help from the NFFF) and families in which deaths occur in the line of duty; this group is headed by chairman and founder Roger H. Nadeau and will use this apparatus as a casket carrier for such purposes.
The District Fire Chief Gerald W. Nadeau Memorial Foundation will allocate monies for social events such as parades, demonstrations and fundraisers for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Monies collected will be used entirely for the restoration and maintenance of this apparatus and remaining funds will be distributed to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation scholarship fund and to give scholarships to local fire department survivors in memory of District Fire Chief Gerald W. Nadeau.
